DENVER HISTORIC MOTELS AND BUILDINGS

I'm too lazy to research all of this.  This is just a visual tour - rather random at that - of historic Denver, Golden, Boulder, Aurora and other "Denver metro" motels and buildings.  Just to give you a flavor of this great city.  I believe all of the motels were along Colfax Ave. (historic Rt. 40).  I make no representations about the safety one way or another of any motel. The pictures are just to show the beautiful neon or Googie architecture. Unfortunately, I took most of the pictures on a rainy day. Click to expand and then hit the back button.  I know I have missed much, but you can only do so much in a few days.

Union Station Downtown - one of Denver's signature buildings

Rt. 40/Colfax Ave. has about four or five of these great Mid-Century Modern/Googie gas stations.  Were they originally Sinclair Stations? Someone know?

This was being renovated while I was in Denver. People rave about the place, so keep track of when it reopens.

Union station interior. Neat benches!

Union Station.  Not as nice an interior (by a long shot) as the Los Angeles Union Station, but worth poking your head in.

Got to love the name of this place!

I love this one.  A remnant of a far more innocent culture. One I certainly miss.

Victorian home in Denver. Unlike California - Victorians in Denver tend to have a lot of stone work.
Obviously, do not disturb the residents of any home I have on this page. That means you!

Mind blowing architecture for the Denver Art Museum.  Hope it never crashes into the Disney Auditorium in Los Angeles!

Denver's awesome State Capitol Building.  A must see!

What follows is a series of interior photos for the Capitol.  I think this building (other than size) beats out the design of the U.S. Capitol.  Incredible interior with art deco murals.  No charge to get in and for the most part, you can take pictures of anything. Wow!

Twin of the Standard Hotel in Downtown LA.  Don't know what this building is used for.
